Ethno Sweden will be held July 2-10, 2009 and celebrates an incredible 20 years of Ethno Sweden!  Since it’s beginning as a small folk music camp for young musicians alongside the Falun Folk Music Festival, many more new Ethnos have been born thanks to the pioneer work of the first Swedish leaders and organizers. All ex-ethno participants are invited to a special anniversary party at the Folkmusikens Hus in Rattvik on the last day of Ethno Sweden 2009!

It started during the Falun Folkmusic Festival in 1989. Next year Ethno Sweden will be arranged for the 20th time. Nowadays the international folk music camp lives a happy life in Rattvik in central Sweden in co-operation with amongst opthers the big music festival Musik Vid Siljan. The jubilee year will of course be celebrated during the Ethno 2009, July 2-9. Nothing is yet decided, many things depend on the funding but JM Sweden discusses inviting old leaders and participants for a jubilee concert and many more ideas.  Read all about it soon on www.ethno.se.

After eight days filled with music, music and more music it is now time to close the Ethno Sweden 2008 camp. 96 participants from 19 countries made sure Ethno 2008 was a fantastic experience.

The camp (26 June - 2 July) ended with a great concert at Rättviksparken Tuesday night and then several performances during the sunny and prestigious Bingsjo fiddle festival Wednesday. The musical skill of the participants this year amazed even experienced leaders and the artistic level of the concerts and work shops was very high.

Next year Ethno Sweden will celebrate its 20th anniversary and hopefully make a special “Jubilee Ethno”. More information on this website will come - and if you want to be a part of Ethno 2009 you can start filling in the registration forms here in the beginning of 2009.
