Participants of the 10^th University on Youth and Development, 13-20 September 2009 in Mollina (Spain) are in for a treat!

Ethno International Caravan, composed of Hassani Mahenge (Tanzania), Maarja Nuut (Estonia), Joel Sebunjo (Uganda), Matija Solce (Slovenia) and Fernando Stern (Chile) are bringing Ethno on the road - with performances and workshops to introduce the 300+ delegates to the world of Ethno!

The University on Youth and Development is an activity jointly organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, the Spanish Government (INJUVE), the European Youth Forum (YFJ), the Spanish Youth Council (CJE) and other international youth organizations, bringing together representatives of youth organisations and youth movements from all over the world!

During the week, young delegates will gather in CEULAJ (the Euro-Latin- American Youth Centre) and through a combination of discussion and training sessions, will create a political space where youth can act upon and acknowledge the role they play in Global Development. Debates will be organised aimed at defining the role youth play: in shaping development policies, in co-operation within development initiatives, and in facilitating a process aimed at defining and implementing projects within the field of youth. The sessions will work towards creating well informed, constructuve political action around current issues on the global agenda.

The Ethno International Caravan will engage participants in various performance and workshop activities, giving a hands on Ethno experience and insight into how the program uses music as an effective tool for intercultural dialogue, implements non formal education methods - with musicians teaching each other the traditional music of their country and learning peer-to-peer, has been developed over the last 20 years by a grassroots network of youth leaders and more! Through their participation in the 10^th University on Youth and Development, the Ethno International Caravan aims to stimulate dialogue and awareness among delegates of the role of culture in youth socio-economic development and inclusion.

You want to share music and culture. You are 17 to 25 years old and enthusiastic about folk music and traditions. You sing or play an instrument and you are able to teach and learn from the others. Come and meet others young musicians from around the world for the first Folk Music Residency in Africa.
