This summer, Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF) is launching the very first Ethno Scotland music camp! This is a unique opportunity for young folk musicians to learn the musical styles of different cultures through a combination of participant-led workshops and jam sessions.
The group will also work creatively as an ensemble, with expert musical direction from Matija Solce (www.teatromatita.com) and Fernando Stern (www.myspace.com/nanostern). The week will end with a mini-tour, with performances at AIYF, Traquair Fair and in St Andrews.
Ethno Scotland is part of the international Ethno camps movement; a project of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI, see www.jmi.net and http://ethno-world.org). Ethno camps currently take place annually in Sweden, France, Cyprus, Uganda, Croatia, Beliguim, Estonia, and Slovenia.
This first year we seek twenty participants. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a place for everyone who applies.
The participation fee is £150/€170 and includes food, basic accommodation and all activities.
